The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine, Section of Cardiology invites applications for two (2) 1-year Lecturer positions in Small Animal Cardiology. T

The position is available as of August 2022. 

About the Role: 

Lecturers in Cardiology have a 42-week clinical commitment, and their primary responsibilities are clinical teaching, service, and resident mentoring in the Section of Cardiology.  The successful candidates will enjoy a wealth of opportunities in a highly collaborative and productive academic environment.

The Section of Cardiology employs 1 ACVIM board-certified cardiologist and 2 dual ACVIM/ECVIM boarded cardiologists.  The Lecturer will work alongside the ACVIM cardiologist and a second Lecturer while the Section’s other faculty are on sabbatical leave.  There are 3 residents enrolled in the cardiology residency training program.  The Section also employs a cardiology research fellow in order to facilitate clinical research and trials, which primarily involve client-owned animals. 

More than 30 American and European Diplomates of various certifying Colleges work within the School’s hospital and support the Section of Cardiology. The Section of Cardiology collaborates with intramural units such as the Perelman School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as well as a variety of extramural collaborators at veterinary schools across the US and world, providing Lecturers with excellent opportunities for professional growth and networking. 

The School of Veterinary Medicine is located amid a vibrant urban neighborhood that offers an abundance of cultural resources including music, art, theatres, and fine dining. For the active nature lover, the surrounding area offers great outdoor recreation.

Candidate Requirements:

Candidates must have a veterinary degree, internship training, residency training in small animal cardiology and be board certified by the American or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology).  Candidates with previous or current experience working in an academic setting especially are encouraged to apply.  Candidates without US citizenship or permanent resident status will be required to obtain the necessary visas prior to receipt of an offer letter.  The University of Pennsylvania will sponsor and pay for the visa application process.  Salaries will be commensurate with professional and academic credentials and experience.
