Salary: £41,526.00 to £52,559.00 (Grade 9) plus additional market pay supplement dependent on experience and subject to approval.
The purpose of this position is to help expanding and developing the clinical cardiology service and a research programme in veterinary cardiology to the highest standard. The newly appointed cardiologist will be working closely with the Principal Clinical Cardiologist in developing the cardiology service and managing a varied cardiology caseload in a timely and cost-effective fashion. Participation in an on call rota will be required.
As part of this role you will help develop our referral cardiology service and be involved in multicentre clinical collaborative research programmes in comparative cardiology, with an emphasis on interventional techniques, and engaging both medical veterinary communities in the widest sense. Depending on the candidate’s research experience and goals, protected off-clinics time will be given for you to develop your own research projects.
Working closely with the existing Small Animal Medicine and Imaging teams, and with the Principal Clinical Cardiologist, you will be involved in the training of postgraduate Senior Clinical Training Scholars for other disciplines, and will be expected to help establish a Senior Clinical Training Scholarship in Veterinary Cardiology. The role will supervise the deployment of Junior Clinical Training Scholars during their rotation period in Medicine & Cardiology. The role will participate in the clinical rotation teaching of 70 6th year students and 140 4th and 5th year students.
Candidate must be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or hold a degree qualifying them for membership, and hold the Diploma of European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (sub-specialty Cardiology), or Diploma of American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (sub-specialty Cardiology). However, candidates who have completed an approved Residency training programme in Cardiology and who are eligible to sit the ECVIM or ACVIM certifying examination will also be considered.
